Accommodation and Meals

Most conference delegates will stay at The University of Victoria’s student residences. The residences are located on campus within steps of all facilities and lecture rooms.

Summer room rates per night are:

Bed and Breakfast:

Bedrooms in Residence (dormitory) buildings come with either 1 or 2 single beds. Shared washroom facilities are located on each floor and are designated by gender. Guests can enjoy Internet access in their bedroom (ethernet cord required) and on each floor there is a central lounge to relax and watch TV with other guests.

$188 per night Cluster Housing (sleeps four):

Similar to an apartment or townhouse, Cluster Housing units come with 4 bedrooms, 2 washrooms and a shower. Each bedroom in the unit contains 1 single bed (bedding provided). The living room is furnished with a loveseat and coffee table. The kitchen has a fridge, stove, dishwasher and dining room table with chairs and is equipped with dishes, cutlery and utensils.

All those staying on campus will have access to public payphones and coin operated laundry facilities.

Booking Rooms

Breakfast, lunches and some dinners will be provided on site in the Cadboro Commons complex, located next to the halls of residence and in the same building as the conference centre. Additional restaurants and a pub are located in the Student Union building, a five minutes walk away. Other evening meals and receptions will take place at the University Club, located on campus. The University Club will be the venue for the annual ICOHTEC Jazz night. The conference banquet will take place at a Chinese restaurant in the historic China Town area of downtown Victoria. Victoria’s China Town is the second oldest in North America.


For those not wishing to stay in residence you may independently book a hotel. As a major tourist destination, downtown Victoria has a large number of hotels in all price ranges, from five star luxury accommodations to motels. Summer price ranges from $400 to $100 per night. Downtown is located approximately 20 minutes from the campus by bus, car or taxi. Taxi fare from downtown to campus is approximately $20 to 25 (14 - 18 Euros). Please note: The conference organizers will not provide transportation to and from downtown hotels.
